Samantha and Brandon - Maternity Session

I just loved my time with Samantha and Brandon for their recent maternity session. They are anticipating the birth of their first baby boy this September - oh, I just can't wait to meet him! What fun to explore a beautiful rose garden and local historic houses together. I was actually delighted with the overcast skies that night which created soft colors and a respite from the summer heat.

You can see how Brandon cares for Samantha - his teasing yet protective nature will surely be valuable in his next role - DAD! And I have a feeling that Samantha is going to melt when she sees her son's face for the first time. Her warm, compassionate nature and quiet strength will serve her well on both the joyful and challenging days of motherhood. I know that this couples' adventures at the White Water Center and bike rides on the greenway will only be made sweeter with the addition of a baby boy in tow.

I loved that Samantha was open to me creating a simple crown of greenery for their session. I was pretty excited about the way it turned out - it beautifully framed her face and added a little celebratory note. Of course my daughter Anna requested that I make her a crown as well...

I find that many women are on the fence about scheduling a maternity session - new moms are often self-conscious of their changing shape. I believe that the whole process of pregnancy is a miracle. Isn't it amazing how our bodies are able to support and grow new life? Your maternity is a time to be celebrated. What a significant time to document! One day, you will be able to share these photos with your son or daughter and tell them about the anticipation you felt, the love you already had for them before they were born. And besides, when else does your photographer tell you to wear clingy clothing and accentuate your belly? Ha!

Samantha and Brandon, thanks so much for allowing me to document this sacred milestone. I can't wait to meet your baby boy!
