Calia Camelio - Newborn Session

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of entering the Camelio family's home to document the arrival of their newest addition, Calia. What a beautiful baby girl.

Between myself, Malgosia, Craig, big brother Cosmo, Baby Calia, and two doting grandparents, I believe there were four languages spoken: English, Polish, Italian and Spanish. But the most beautiful language spoken? The universal love and awe of Baby Calia. They are a close knit family, building on the rich heritage built before them. Malgosia's parents were in town from Poland - I may not have understood the words from their mouths, but I didn't need to. Their devotion to their grandchildren and support of Craig and Malgosia was unwavering.

I loved observing Cosmo with his baby sister. He would whirl around the room, throwing his ball and dancing in typical toddler form. But when we placed Calia in his arms, he seamlessly transitioned into the gentle and protective big brother. You can see their bond growing already.

You know how I can tell when I meet a special family? It's in the way the mother and father treat one another. Sometimes when you are in the thick of it and deep in the piles of diapers and endless demands, it's easy to forget what got this all started - a love story between two people. Malgosia and Craig haven't forgotten. Just look at the way they look at each other in the photos below...

Towards the end of our session, I encouraged Malgosia and Craig to spend some time snuggling their daughter in the nursery. Malgosia became a little emotional. I asked her if she was ok and she said, "Yes, I'm just so happy..." Tears of joy. My favorite kind.
